Yes this is a little late with Halloween but I had purchased it like 2 days before Halloween on sale at Hobby Lobby. Again I love these cut out and sew projects. :)
I used pink bias tape to edge it. Pretty easy and simple project to do..
My skeleton apron...
As you can see I didn't do the pockets b/c it didn't look right so I took them off.

Cream dress refashion
When I purchased this dress, I actually thought I was not going to refashion it. The color blocking was nice. In my mind I thought it would work but that changed when I put it on.
Something just seemed odd and wrong about it. The length was not right, I figured if cut off the colors on the bottom maybe that would make the dress “work”.
Off came the bottom. I just used my seam ripper, to remove the grey and the pink mauve blocks. I hemmed the bottom with a baby hem. And put it back on. Now the dress was too bland for my taste.
HMMMMM what to do, what to do??
I looked in my stash of items (which I am trying my hardest to shrink!) and found these nice paisley iron-ons and some ribbon with paisleys. I decided to iron the paisleys on the collar to give it some flavor. Then I added the ribbon to edge the dress on the bottom. Lastly, I used the remaining ribbon leftover to make a belt and tie it all together.
Here is what I have for a dress. Much nicer and pulled together with an appropriate length.

Golden Girl Sweater Refashion
Well this post is a little old but finally I found my camera and took the end picture! I am finally able to play a little catch up. Life has been hectic and busy and unfortunately I have had to put my creative endeavors to the side, which I don’t mind b/c I know I will return to them soon! Actually very soon yay!
I started out with this large oversize gold 80s sweater. I thought that maybe it would make a sweet sweater dress but realized it was too short.
So what is wrong with it…. Oh so much. It needs a lot of toning down. The gold color would be fine if this sweater got tamed. The cowl neck color was hideous and definitely needed to go. And same taking in would do this sweater good.
First I removed the collar. Maybe I can turn it into something, I’ll have to think about that. I left a little bit of overhang so I could fold it over and sew down. I tacked it down by hand. Honestly, it took no time. Had I done it by machine I was afraid of the pulling with the feed dogs and it was warp the neckline.
Then using my wonderful dress form, I pinned to take it and sewed down!
I did not do anything elaborate with the sleeves. I sort of left the big. Most of the time I roll up my sleeves b/c it gets in my way while I work, etc. But I did pull some of the sweater off the bottom.
The simple end product…
This would look great under my suit for when I am in Chicago to attend a meeting. Unfortunately, Chicago’s heat wave is gone and now its like high in the 50s-60s. So I will need some warmer clothes.
Here’s to me enjoying my time with my sewing machine!

Spring Vogue pattern review
Normally I have a hard time wanting to buy patterns from Vogue. To me a year ago, many of the patterns just felt dated and something I would never wear. Maybe every now and then I would find one potential pattern I would consider sewing, but it was wearing it that I had a hard time figuring out.
I have really started to sew like a crazy woman last year. I love it but I still want and need to learn how to sew patterns etc. I really want to find more things that are cute and different and maybe not something my mom might wear. Which there is nothing wrong with that but... I want to feel young.
I noticed the winter collection began to grab my eye and I think they really grabbed my eye. Now it is time for the spring patterns, I was eager to see what they came up with this time!
I want to say I fell in love with these patterns!
V1286 by Tracy Reese
I love this take on a halter dress. I instantly wanted to make this dress!
V1289 by Pamella Roland
V-neck dress with different shoulders.
Want to make this dress. I would love to bead and embellish the spaghetti strap side. I seriously can't wait to make it. As an embellisher this dress is a dream!
Also even tho this pattern is kind of seen it, I really thought this could have a lot of options with playing with colors and patterns.
V1291 by Sandra Betzina
with an option
I wanted to like this dress but in reality if it wasn't sequins it probably wouldn't look right with most fabrics. And I think it is hard shape to pull off too.
I hate this! Hate! I mean its like a a large sweatshirt with matching skirt. Maybe if it wasn't made out of sweat material this could have potential. But I mean why vogue, why??
So nice Vogue. I look forward to your summer collection and sewing some of your new patterns! Well at least once I get through the next few weeks with work! :)

St Patty Day Necklace
So slowly working my way through the things I have already created. I haven't had much creative time since I helped put on the Club Bellydance show in Mobile. Then it has been crazy at work and getting prepared to go to 2 meetings! I am afraid I won't do much of anything in the month of March but at least I can catch up! Ok more destashing my bead stash!
I made 2 long necklaces for St. Patty's Day
Just like my valentines day necklace.
Can't wait to wear it for St. Patty's day coming up!
Wahoo for points!
XOXOXO,
Lauren
