Snowflake long sleeve top McCall's pattern 6796

This was a really easy pattern to sew. Since it is sooo cold out I am trying to focus more of things I could wear right now in these frigid temperatures. Time for more of that snowflake knit fabric.

I used this easy McCall's pattern 6796. 

The fit is pretty well, the arms are not tight but it doesn't look like they are supposed to-I am fine with that. Super easy to sew except for that cowl. I got confused on how to add it. Messed me up pretty bad. I actually did it my way as I was afraid that  the seam would show. I added my own buttons- 2 instead of 3. This top was so busy as it was with the pattern- these were just a small little hint of sparkle as they are rhinestones covered in a thin mesh fabric. The length is great for myself.

If you might remember I used this fabric for my leggings project. I now have a dress in the works with this fabric and I should be sending it to the scrap bin. I have a few charity project ideas for this fabric. I mean how cute would this fabric be for a pair of baby shoes? Christmas ornaments? Still thinking. Baby steps. Let's make some clothes first and then deal with the smaller stuff. :0)

Day 55: The purple top

So I made it and finally got a post done before ten on day 55. Didn't think I could make it. But I did. Ha!

Again one of those, "I can wear this shirt as is" when I purchased the top at Goodwill.

But then I put it on and bleh, it is kind of boring. Sort of big. Not digging the turtleneck. And it was in need of some slimming down. And that is what I did!

First I took it in the sides.

Then I fixed the turtle neck. Basically I took the turtleneck off and folded under the leftover fabric. Sew down by hand so I could regulate the tension.

So slimmer and the turtleneck gone. ahhhh. For the rest of my 90 days of blogging see here. Now to work on tomorrow's post. I expected to get more things done this past weekend. My body had other plans.

Project Lace #1- Lace inset shirt

If you don't know I am part of the Refashion Co-op, a group of fabulous people dedicated to refashioning clothing. I am now the Daily Editor for Wednesdays. :) We are now having challenges to inspire and maybe help you finish a project you started etc... Our first theme was Lace (curtosity of yours truly!) I had 1 week to plan....

First I had purchased this shirt on clearance from JCPenneys awhile back for $2 I loved the stripes. Except when I put it on, it so did not fit right. The arms were too tight (and it was a misses medium???) I felt like the hulk. I tried to use my bulging biceps to rip the sleeves. Because tight sleeves make LAUREN ANGRY!! GRRRRRRRR.

First and foremost, those sleeves need to be shortened. Since they were bizarrely tight in the forearms, they HAD to come off! I tried to use another shirt as a template. But it wasn't until I tried it on that I could refine the sleeves.

Next I found my lace in my stash and positioned it on my shirt down the center. Side note: not each lace scallop is created equal. I had no idea, one had a rose while the other didn't. I had to make sure I matched them up. Luckily I cut more than I actually needed!

Sew down! This was a bit tricky b/c i was sewing down the center of a shirt!

Then I folded over the lace on the bottom and sewed down.

Done! And now I have my first entry into the lace challenge with refashion co-op. Now I have to try and figure out what I am going to do next for this challenge! :)

Yeah I was totally sewing in my fleece pants, it was right after my physical therapy appointment. ;) I still think there is something funky at the neckline going on but I was going to give the shirt time to settle post refashioning.
