Well hi welcome to my little blog. Just my little corner of craftiness, sewing, and refashioning. I am also a newly gluten free eater so you have a little bit of recipes mixed in here.

Fringe tassel earrings

Ok I had these old tassels that may have came from a pillow. If you have cats, dogs, or even children-tassels don't mix for home decor. So I had cut them off and saved them for later. I had no idea what I wanted to do with them but then it hit me- What if I turned them into earrings?? Why not?

First I cut off the strands as best as I could...

Next I added a drop of glue into the center. I used GS Hypo cement

Insert the earring into the middle, making sure it fits snugly.

Done!!!

These are fabulous. A little bit more of a winter feel so I will wait to wear them just yet. :) But a fabulous save!

Day 70: Filigree Ring Refashion

Still on my filigree kick.... I had these filigree rings that I had intended on blinging out. But just never got around it to and they seemed to not keep a decent shape. I decided to change it up and turn them into something else!

First I banged them out flat, which wasn't too hard. Luckily they didn't break. For this project I decided to use the silver ones since they had the same tone. Using my stash of Swarovski rhinestones, I chose a turquoise in color and the jonquil and came up with a design.

I simply used my cement and glued them on.

Next they needed hooks to actually go into my ears... details.

I found these simple earring hooks in a stash from my mom (thanks mom!). Simply loop my ring through and I am done!

The turquoise rhinestones photograph odd. Hmm. Who knows. For more of my 90 days to DC posting click here!

Handmade Jewelry Thursday 8.18.11 Pearls and beads set

Wow I have made it for another installment of handmade jewelry thursday. Wow what a record for me! Today I took on a jewelry making kit. "pure Innocence"

I made the earrings first.

Then I went for the bracelet and necklace. There was no directions so this was a pain in the rear!

I did not receive enough head pins to make the other earrings (but didn't care for them either) nor the necklace.

It wasn't bad but this was my first time making loops with pins. It is pretty hard. I was not exactly a fan. But once I got going, I could go pretty fast but every now and then I'd get stuck for a few minutes. It was less painful than the chain maille but not as easy as sewing lol!!!

Handmade Jewelry Thursday 8.5.11

On my now 3rd addition of handmade jewelry thursday! Whew! I know it is late and on a Friday but it has been a busy week with the Olympic Boxing Trials and my cousin Enovi competing. Plus, all the family in town. This week's post will just be an addition to a post earlier from the Iron Craft Challenge #31. I have already messed around with the purples but for this post I am going to see what happens when I color them with my good old paint pens. I really wanted black earrings but didn't feel like buying black clay. Kind of in the "work with-what-I-got" sort of mood.

Here are my leftover small violets. I want to turn them black with my paint pen.

Add a post with some cement glue...

Done! Now I have them in black! I wore them today at work! And yes I suck at taking pictures! this was taken in my car ;)

I also have been thinking I can probably glam these babies up by adding a clear coat like the spray polyurethane I have. I like shiny things... Sorry for the tardiness! Look forward to creating a beaded necklace this weekend. Here's to a break! :)

XOXOXO,
Lauren
