Oscar de la Renta clown shirt, refashion 95

I found this gem and when I looked at the tag, it said Oscar de la Renta. May he rest in peace. But this shirt instantly said clown to me. That collar is over the top!

It is just too much, with such loud fabric, the details must really been minimal.

Off came the collar and sleeves. I fixed the neckline. I then used a sleeve to create a tie strip that I then attached to the neckline. Then I finished up the arm holes. Done! I didn't have to take in the sides as really it was fine.

Here is my new top!

Simple and alright for the office.

It is super cute tucked into the skirt.

And if I added a blazer (obviously I would select one that would work better with the skirt) then it further tones down the loud magenta and black striped fabric.

I had no idea this top was really going to work but it does! Yay! Here is the recap!

2 button down tops, # 73 & 74

A tale of 2 button down tops... Both just needed a little bit of tailoring in order for a better fit. Neither needed something with the sleeves. I just needed to remove some of the boxiness.

First a white and grey flannel shirt.

And a nice striped work shirt.

Both of them I started to sew right at the armholes and brought it in. Each had about a good 3-4 inches at the waist.

Then to fix the uneven hem, I serged off the bottom of the shirts to make it even. Then fold up and sew. Ironing helped this a lot. Done!!

First the grey flannel shirt. OMG it is soo warm. 

Fit is nice. Just right.

Blue flowered shirt, refashion 67

Yup another button down shirt here we come! Welcome to my serious face. LOL It has taken me a long time to get inspired to fix this top. But I am glad I did!

Love the fabric but it needs some tweaking: collar doesn't button, too big, and bad sleeves.

I redid the neckline after removing the collar. I finished with bias tape. I made a casing and adding elastic helped to cinch the sleeves. Then I fitted it in the bust. :) Done!

Because it isn't a blog of a sewer unless there is a picture of a cat. Here my cat came up and began to talk and photo bomb me

So I picked him up, he just loves attention. 

Recap!!! Fits nicely! Yay!!!

The blog is getting back together slightly. I had a little bit of time to do some sewing. Yay! My time during the week is incredibly hectic! Got to love the weekends.

Refashion #2: sleevless too tight button down

Today is an exciting day! I am doing a Guest Post over at House of Estrela's series January Refashion Month.

Today's refashion is all about this lovely too tight and weird looking blue button down I found, that I thought could work as is... sadly not
