Pants to skinny jeans

This week switching up to a refashion. Do you see a sort of trend? I always need more pants and prepping for future colder weather, I wanted more skinny jeans. But I don't like some skinny jeans from the stores as they are so tight, they cut off circulation. That and there's not enough room to bend and squat, which I do a lot at work. Time to make my own! I wanted black pants since I don't have any.

These pants fit really well in the thighs and my butt and hip area. So really all I need to fix is the lower legs. So I put on my pants inside out and pinned them. Yes I pinned them on myself. Then they were a bit too long when the cuffs were unpicked with my seam ripper. So off went the length.

So here is a trick when you are sewing black thread with black fabric... it was almost impossible to find where the thread was in order to properly fuse the good portion of the old seam with the new seam- that black thread with the denim weave is just impossible. So the trick is to use chalk- it makes the seam pop right out and poof easy to sew! So I sewed my seam and then cut off with my serger.

Yeah so new jeans, semi-skinny since I have room to move but they are good to tuck into a boot in the winter and fall.

Massive jeans, #58, vogue 8993

Well I had the epic polo now I have a massive jeans refashion. Check out these jeans!

Now I am actually in these jeans you just can't tell. It almost looks like I am putting them in front of me. As I stared down at the jeans I thought.... Hmm I think I can get my body in one leg. So I tried it out!

OMG I could! I could not stop laughing!! Holy Cow!

I decided to use a pattern. Use the top half of pants for a skirt and then use the bottom half for the bodice. First cut in half. Sew out that J front and back of the legs/bum area.

Bodice in the works... I screwed up on one part but you can't tell unless you look really closely at the finished garment. Half of the time I can't find it.

I used Vogue 8993, pretty easy pattern.

The skirt took a bit more handling, go figure. then I connected and added a zipper

Now before I finished the dress, I had other things going on (story of my life) and I let it hang b/c something was off.

I had left the waistband on the bottom of the skirt. But I realized I hated it. So off it went...

As you can see, the skirt sort of has a point to it but I kept it as is. I sort of liked the different feeling I got with the dress. 

My only beef with this pattern is I felt as if the arm holes were a bit low.

So in case you don't realize that these are jeans, the zipper is the slit and you can see the small pockets.

White Jean Sad Sack Dress #2, Refashion 31

So I found another sad sack! Not that I am super proud of that but it is pretty sad...

And the back of buttons was not going to work. I mean how am I going to put this dress on when I am by myself. What if something shows? This was not going to work for anything. Plus the bodice was just MEH..

Now big white jeans, I wanted to combine the 2!

Yeah these are huge!

To undo the seams, this was solely a job for scissors. Just cut everything away.

I decided to use this pattern. My initial thought was the peplum top but instead I made my version of the dress. 

 I used the top with no collar with the white denim. Also I had fun with my overcast foot on my sewing machine. I didn't have my serger at the time (long story).

Instead of making the skirt to the pattern. I just cut off the bottom part of the dress. Removed the buttons and holes. and attach. I added an invisible zipper and I am done! I didn't even have to hem! Yeah :)

Best part I got to keep the pockets. Man I love pockets.

blue jeans no more- a jean refashion

I wanted to play around with dyeing jeans so when I stumbled on these jeans that cost next to nothing. I was happy. I was even happy that they still had the tags on them! Whoot!

As you can see they are big on me...

I attempted to bleach them but nothing happened. Didn't get any whiter whatsoever. So I said forget it. And I just threw it in a dye bath to see what was going to happen. If I got purple pants then so be it. I used RIT cherry red.

Holy moly! They came out red! I did not expect that whatsoever. But I seriously LOVE the color. And after several washes in HOT water they did shrink a smidge. I decided after sewing those leather shorts I could sew denim. Not afraid. I am going to take the leap and take them in, these will be a great addition to my cold wardrobe!

I took it in on the inside and outside of the legs. The inseam was a bit of a challenge. Then I took the waistband off from the sides. Cut and sewed back together to fit be right.

Done! Nice new fit!! I LOVE this color!
