Well hi welcome to my little blog. Just my little corner of craftiness, sewing, and refashioning. I am also a newly gluten free eater so you have a little bit of recipes mixed in here.

Turtleneck to coffee cozy

Remember that orange turtleneck I refashioned by taking off the neck??

Well I wanted to use the neck for something and I made a cozy with it! Here is how I did it! I folded the neck in half and sewed down a short side and the long side. Turn right side out. Sew the last short side

Next I attached velcro to each end.

Look now it closes! But I need to hide the sewing mark!

I have no idea how I have this iron on patch. But this will work!

Iron!

Done!

Now this will be a great cozy to cover up an old conference coffee cup. This is now a ZERO waste refashion.

Cheers!

Orange Wool Turtleneck Refashion

I don't know what it is about turtleneck but I just don't care for them. Especially if they are itchy wool. Take this orange wool sweater....

It actually fits fine, I mean its a winter top you have to have room to layer. I am getting really good at getting rid of turtlenecks! First again cut down the side . Then cut some of the excess of but leave room to fold down 2X. Also what helps is cutting little nips around the circle in order to ease the folding.

See the nips? Everything is folded 2X and pinned. I then hand sewed everything down while stretching the sweater at the same time (and hence why there are no pictures of this!).

Done! Turtleneck gone! Yay!

Here's to warm winter clothes!!

Day 42: Eddie Bauer Turtleneck Skirt

Again you wonder what some designers were thinking when they made things. Take this Eddie Bauer striped turtleneck. I love the colors, not so much an ill-fitting shirt. It is a nice quality knit but man it is ugly as a turtle neck!!

The knit I decided was too difficult to work with and opted for a non-top project. I decided to turn it into a skirt. My goal was to turn it into a multi-season skirt. Let's see how that works out for me.
First cut off sleeves.

I also cut off the neckline. yeah it was crooked... I fixed it later.

Next, it took me many tries to get the side to fit just right and curve my hips. Here are some pictures. And yes one side took many, many tries...

this side was better. I "learned"

I added an elastic waistband so it would stay up. Done!

I love this b/c right now I can wear it in the summer. But later I can pair it with some tights and warmer boots and sweater and wear it for the cold weather. The colors work for both. Can't show you all of the outfit since it's another refashion.
