My Next Style Project Day 7: Christmas Tree Bibs

Ok today is the last day of projects! And I am using the rest of my stars from My Next Style. I used all but the gold ones.

I had leftover over from my Modcloth inspired Peter Pan dress refashion. This was the leftover scrap. I decided to use it to make bibs.

I pinned the bib pattern and cut out the plaid bibs!

Now to make my tree pattern I just simply cut a triangle on a piece of paper folded in half!

I used the triangle pattern to make trees.

I cut brown rectangles too for the bottom portion of the trees. I added the pieces to the iron-on bond. 

I cut out the trees and stumps and I peeled off the paper backing.

I first added the stumps. 

Iron!

Next add the tree!

Iron!

For some of the smaller trees I decided I wanted a smaller tree. So I just took some off the edge. 

Again the craft bond. I did it in reverse this time. Made life easier and my iron thanked me. 

Now I need to applique (which I have never done before) the trees and stumps. Here is me practicing. 

Sew! I did several variations. 

Now time to add stars! Simply add star and iron!

The bibs need backs. I traced the bibs on green fabric I had in my stash, and cut out. 

Pin together. 

Sew!

Trim excess!

I am ready to add bias tape. I pinned the short side first and sewed down. 

This picture is a perfect example of the difference between iron (left) and not ironed (right) after sewing the curves. Definitely iron!

I then sewed the top portion down of the bias tape. Repeat, repeat, repeat! 

I added about 2 feet of bias tape to the top of each bib to finish it up! Done! 

Here are the end bibs! OMG I love them!

Finishing a cross stitch

I am working on clearing out some of my craft projects. I finished another small cross stitch and I needed to finish it. Here is a little tutorial on how to finish a cross stitch ornament.

First here is the finished piece..

But it totally needs to fit it in the star ornament shape.

I used the frame to guide and center the teddy bear.

Trace with a pencil. Then cut out.

We are still a tiny too big so I used the backing to nip some of the star.

Pop in....

From the back.

I glue the edges to seal it, just with some hot glue.

Done!

Here's another one I finally finsihed!

Wahoo here's to knocking more off my craft list! :) yes.....

Felt Christmas Card Snowmen Hanger

After doing this felt craft and the Bucilla Penquin Snow Hanger I have decided no more felt projects for me. They are beautiful in the end but I find myself frustrated and angry during the entire crafting process. I don't like seeing the stitches and that is difficult with felt. Crafts and sewing should be fun and not painful. I don't have the patience for felt, but I have patience for sewing hundreds and thousands of sequins and beads on projects..... yeah I don't get it, go figure.

So I started with this Bucilla Project here that I picked up. Pretty cute, it is a card holder. Thought it was different and would make a nice christmas gift.

Again I cheated with using fabric paint rather than embroidery, I find I can control the end outcome better! I also used fusible interface rather than the pellon they gave (because they did not include enough!!! Bad Bucilla!).

The entire portion, it is huge!

The back I covered with fusible fleece, again there was not enough included in the package to cover the entire back.

I am giving away some of the felt projects I had purchased to my mother. She likes them. Me, no more they are just taking up space in my craft room. And I don't have a lot of space to spare! LOL
