Well hi welcome to my little blog. Just my little corner of craftiness, sewing, and refashioning. I am also a newly gluten free eater so you have a little bit of recipes mixed in here.

Not really a refahsion- striped heart top

I was playing around one day and I had this shirt from Ann Taylor Loft that I thought could use some sprucing up. It is not bad, just plain.

I added some leftover faux suede fabric and made a big heart (b/c I am not creative and could think of anything else). I realized it was too big and would probably not look right in the center of the shirt. I liked the size and decided to off set the heart and place it on its side. Not bad, something different.

Kind of fun and something different. It will probably make me wear this shirt more than I would have without it.

Cheers,
Lauren

Iron craft- yarn heart pom-poms

This iron craft challenge was string theory. Make something with strings. After pondering what I could do, I decided that this would be time to try out my Pom-pom makers that I got on clearance from Clover.

First time through, it was a hot mess. Second time worked out better, I watched a youtube video of how to use this thing. The key to success with this pom pom maker is NOT using the same yarn to tie across. You need a really strong thread- I used a thread that I had that was some sort of crochet thread (it is the gold thread).
Not bad after some trimming. I mad 2: a large and the small version. The small version was much more difficult to make a heart.
Let me tell you it was a win with the cat. They disappeared and all I heard was chaos. Easy cat toy. Yay

Cheers,
Lauren

I heart my new sweatshirt- a refashion

Take one plain grey sweatshirt....

Plus a red zipper sweatshirt
wait let me adjust the flash..... here we go!

So what do you get? I (heart) my sweatshirt. So what the heck am I talking about?

First I took in the sides of the sweatshirt and sleeves. I pinned myself in.

Sew and Serge

Next the problem with the red zip up... Holes!
But I just loved the fabric color, etc. So looks like I need to use it for something else. I'm going to add a heart to the sweatshirt! First grab some paper. Fold in half!
Draw a heart! This I actually did in the first try which amazed me. So quick!
cut

Pin to the red sweat shirt. Draw with a disappearing marker. Cut

Now I want to attach but I don't want to glue it. I thought I would use just a simple backstitch to attach. First pick the color. Ding we have a winner

I pinned the heck out of the heart on the sweat shirt. I tried the shirt on and literally pinned it while it was on. And there was no blood. Win! Then sew! Which was at times awkward to sew.

Yay done here is my new sweat shirt. and omg!! I LOVE it!

xoxoxo,
Lauren
