Well hi welcome to my little blog. Just my little corner of craftiness, sewing, and refashioning. I am also a newly gluten free eater so you have a little bit of recipes mixed in here.

Sidewinder Bobbin Winder Review

I scored a sidewinder on clearance at Jo-Anne Fabrics! Can I get a hey...... :)

I opened it up and it could either be battery or plugged in for power

I just used batteries. Then set up my spool and my bobbin, push the button and let it go!

Done! It automatically stopped by itself. And very VERY quickly I had a bobbin wound!

This was fabulous! Though I would not have paid full price for it. It is a nice convenience for myself. Now to get back to sewing so I can use it! :)

Gluten free food review: Chocolate chip cookies

I am always up for trying a new cookie. These are from Enjoy Life, which always produce good products.

I was slightly disappointed when I opened the box..

Not many cookies at all and for the price.... Ok here is what the cookies look like, a main component are dates. So this is new..

So they don't "look" like chocolate chip cookies per se, but they were really yummy. I would recommend but the price to me makes them slightly unappealing. I would probably not buy these again just b/c of the price-but not b/c of the taste.

Dyeing beads try...

Going through my beadstash I had this mix of beads. they are not anything fancy. Simple regular plastic beads. There were these one beads that were this dull white I could not stand. I wanted to see if I could dye them....

First I attempted lemon yellow rit dye. This was a FAIL. The dye didn't take.

Yup I got nothing...

Time to pull out the heavy artillery. I thought iDye dyes polyester--which is plastic-- why not plastic beads??

I also selected some other things also since I didn't want to waste dye. Rope trim and a piece of satin.

Simply add packet to the water.. Yup no spills or worrying about the dye going anywhere else!

Mix well, add beads, etc... mix while on a medium heat

Here's the full removal out of the bath... yay  everything took!!

Let the beads dry- they look great

Time to make a necklace! I centered the bigger beads and then flanked the smaller beads at each end.

Went easy with gold beading wire-coated of course- part of my stash.

with the hook & toggle..

I love the heart eye for the necklace. Really cute!

Here is the finished product... way prettier than those dull white beads. A pop of yellow will make for a good add in my wardrobe!

Not done with these but playing around with trying to make earrings with these beads...

Let's see. I am still working on it. I had company come in town and I did absolutely no crafts or sewing! Must play catch up now...

Fringe tassel earrings

Ok I had these old tassels that may have came from a pillow. If you have cats, dogs, or even children-tassels don't mix for home decor. So I had cut them off and saved them for later. I had no idea what I wanted to do with them but then it hit me- What if I turned them into earrings?? Why not?

First I cut off the strands as best as I could...

Next I added a drop of glue into the center. I used GS Hypo cement

Insert the earring into the middle, making sure it fits snugly.

Done!!!

These are fabulous. A little bit more of a winter feel so I will wait to wear them just yet. :) But a fabulous save!

Iron Board Fix- Finally

Now I don't intend to post small projects but after wrestling with this thing man, what an ordeal .

Everyone probably knows my hideous ironing board cover... there is coffee, hot chocolate, interfacing, bonding, etc. And it is a hot mess. Even some fabric stained the board.

Even tho I got an "extra wide" cover. I wrestled, threw my body weight, cursed the manufacturers and the sewers, it barely fit. Extra wide-baloney!

Hopefully this cover will hold up better. I am hoping that this orange print will not show so many marks..

Gluten Review: Brown Rice Pasta

Trying out new pasta. I am always in the mood for new pasta to try out. Sometimes it is nice to have a little variety. Brown rice pasta here. I found it at Giant Grocery Store.

Again it cooks longer than gluten pasta but that is not surprising to me. It looks really nice. Add sauce.

I also threw in some fresh mozarella. Done. The taste was great! Did not taste like rice!

Will definitely buy again. I highly recommend!

Filigree Bracelet

This was an easy project. And it used up some of the craft bling! First Found this filigree cuff .

There was one minor issue.... part of the one portion had detached. I need to reattach it.

Added a little GS Hypo Cement and clipped with clothes pins and let it dry over night.

While it was drying I did start gluing some crystals on it. Might as well! :)

Done. I added a few colors. Here's a close up.

Another close up

I love this bracelet. It was easy and now I have a new bracelet. Yay!

Garden fit for a diva day 5:Mod podge glitter planters #2

Last day of my garden fit for a diva!!! Today I am messing with covering regular plastic pots with modge podge and glitter. I didn't know if it could be done or not but let me tell you-yes it can!

So basically I took my plastic garden pot, added a nice thick layer of outdoor modge podge and covered with glitter. Let dry. Repeat. Dry. Add a final layer of modge podge but no glitter.

Spray with clear acrylic gloss. Done. I transplanted my squash sprouts into this and wow, just WOW my squash literally in a short period of time has blown up!

This is sparkly and looks great in the sun. The only issue I have had and you can see in the first picture that where the water hits on the bottom edge things are beginning to peel off. I need a stand or something to put underneath so the paint glitter doesn't just stand in the water for long periods of time.

When I first started my garden and some of the pictures that you have seen was in the beginning here is an update. Things are growing like crazy

And if you don't know many of these things are grown straight from seed (not the cacti tho) how awesome is that!!

I am looking forward to where my garden will grow and sparkle at the same time. If not my dirt will look good... :)

Cheers,
Lauren
