Well hi welcome to my little blog. Just my little corner of craftiness, sewing, and refashioning. I am also a newly gluten free eater so you have a little bit of recipes mixed in here.

Red corduroy skirt refashion

Time for a refashion! It is the red corduroy skirt.... oh it is stretchy!
For some reason when I wear this skirt I feel like I should be reading a thick book and I am possibly a librarian...

No matter what I do with that skirt it is ugly and too short and you see my ugly feet which I hate, hate, hate! Time to shorten it!

What I also noticed  was the button holes were a bit stretched out. I also didn't care for these brown tortoise shell buttons. Remember this simple red sweater refashion?

Remember these buttons? From this sweater refashion? I saved them, perfect time to use them.

So I swapped out the buttons. With a quick cut, some of my problem was gone. I realized cutting above the last button would be a good length for me.

Next just fold up and sew. But the bottom button was in my way!! Remove and finish sewing!

Done! A nice fall skirt my way.

Love easy refashions. BTW I made that top that I am wearing with it! Stay tuned, I'll tell you how easy it is to make!

Cheers,
Lauren

My no duh moment... how to fix a top

I have this fun pink leopard lace peplum top. But the button that came with the top is too big for the elastic that was used to make the loop.

Enter Lauren staring at this for a few days, thinking of how I was going to alter the loop and make it big enough for the button.
SERIOUSLY.... Then I had an AHA moment. Change the button silly! I went to my button stash. Found several small buttons. I picked one

Pulled out my seam ripper and removed the button

Sew the new button on and TA-DA! It fits. And now I have my shirt back to wear, before fall and winter comes.

Don't do what I did! Just change the button!

Iron Craft '13 #9- Button necklace

This challenge for iron craft was notion. To make a craft with something you would find on the notion wall. Easy I have plenty of notions. Time to craft! I have a ton of buttons! They have just seemed to collect over the years. So I wanted to use my buttons up!

I divided them up into gold buttons which I don't care for and then colors (but no black, white, cream, brown).. First with the gold... I wanted to make a button bib necklace. I arranged my buttons in a way that would work and be sort of balanced while it was on a piece of black felt.

Next I both glued and sewed on the buttons. the ones with holes I sewed on while the raised ones had to be glued. I had initially tried to just sew them but it did not work well when the bib was upright-they hung weird. I glued between buttons to give the necklace a little bit more stability.

I cut away the backing so you couldn't see the felt. It felt (no pun intended!) like it still needed more stability so I added another piece of black felt. again cut away.

Now it is time to back it a little bit more for stabilitty. Fun with hot glue!! Yeah!

Now it is time to make it a necklace. I had to dig b/c my craft closet was a bit messy.

Warning this didn't work b/c I had too much glue on the opposite site as you can see in the next few pictures...

So I decided to glue black chain to one side and then a loop to the opposite side. I had to tweak the length to where I wanted it to lay on my chest.

I backed it yet again (now 3rd layer!) with another piece of black felt. Cut away.

Now here is my finished necklace! Yay!! Here's to another project! I actually really like it b/c I am not a fan of gold normally. But I do like this necklace!

I have full intentions of using the multiple color buttons for maybe a headband or something but I will have to wait until a little bit later. I ran out of black elastic to make another project for this challenge!

Cheers!

Easy Red Sweater Refashion

I love easy refashions! I found this warm and fuzzy sweater but something was just off... I mean it fit. It fit great!! But my eyes got drawn to those buttons... and I realized they were not there for any particular reason just for decoration. Bleh!

Bad buttons!

So I pulled out my seam ripper and very GENTLY ripped out the thread. Which in all actually was easier said than done! ESP with a sweater knit!

Buh-Bye buttons!!

Done! Easy

Now here it is on... I paired it with a bejeweled tank top which was the perfect dimensions

Not bad huh? Looks much nicer now. Yay!

Lauren
